IMDB Rating : 6/10
Zathura: A Space Adventure is nothing but “Jumanji in Space” i.e an old game which propels them into a real-life space adventure involving comets, stranded astronauts, and lizard-like aliens called Zorgons. Two typically irritating kids ,Danny and Walter are two brothers who barely get along even while driving their parents to distraction as their older sister tries to ignore them. Despite their squabbling, the brothers manage cooperate enough to play an old mechanical board game named Zathura. However, after their first move, they find that the game has apparently flung them, their sister and their entire house into outer space. Furthermore, the brothers surmise the only way to return home is to finish the game. However with almost every move, new dangers arise as the siblings find themselves learning to cooperate in ways they never expected as they realize what they mean to each other.Director Jon Favreau just doesn’t know when to end a scene, so that supposedly suspenseful sequences eventually just become tedious.

Up is the tenth Pixar movie in 14 years and the first one the company has ever made in 3-D. With the remarkable – perhaps even unmatched – reputation the studio has presented to its audience “Up” Featuring the voices of Edward Asner, Christopher Plummer, and Jordan Nagai ,Directed by Pete Docter. The story seems borne out of a childhood daydream: Tying thousands of helium balloons to a house and taking a joyride in the clouds to South America, now filled with melancholia over never taking that trip with his late wife, Carl Fredrickson (Ed Asner) pursues their shared dream of visiting Paradise Falls in Venezuela. As children, Carl and his future wife Ellie looked up to the dashing explorer Charles Muntz (Christopher Plummer), who somewhat poetically vanished looking for a lost civilization over Paradise Falls, hence Carl’s unending fascination. It is the common thread that links two kids who grow up and fall in love. There is a montage early in the film that illustrates the life and memories that Carl and Ellie shared, filled with as much disappointment as happiness. It will be hard for any other scene this year to match its depth and emotional impact. And somehow, it fits in perfectly with a fairly silly buddy action movie, involving a septaugenerian, a chubby kid who has stowed away on the floating house trying to earn merit badges as a Wilderness Explorer, and a talking dog. In the end I would say, Up puts us in a floating house and carries us away, despite all logic to the contrary. Adults enjoy these movies as much as kids, maybe even more. And Up could be one of Pixar’s absolute best.
Toy Story 3
Title: Toy Story 3
Duration: 103 min
Cast: Tom Hanks, Tim Allen, Joan Cusack
IMDB Rating : 8.5/10
Toy Story 3 is the latest addtion to the toy story series , it is years later, and Andy, the owner of “all those wonderful toys,” is going off to college, leaving Woody and Buzz and Jessie and T-Rex and Mr. and Mrs. Potato-Head to an indifferent Fate, abandoned and forgotten. Who will get chosen to go? Who’ll be left behind? Will the hard-fought camaraderie established in Toy Story and Toy Story 2 be undone by the inexorable passing of time and the capricious passing of affection? The film manages to maintain a constant strain of humor, which comes naturally from the story and the fact that these are toys.I’d like to rattle off a string of incidents and lines that charmed me and made me laugh out loud, but that would take away from your enjoyment of it—the surprise, the delight…and the fear. One other interesting aspect: the series is now fifteen years old, so a lot of young adults, who grew up enchanted with the Toy Story series, are going to watch this movie happily, they will not be disappointed.
Title: Toy Story (1995)
Duration: 77 min | Turkey: 74 min (TV version)
Cast: Tom Hanks, Tim Allen, Don Rickles, Jim Varney
IMDB Rating : 8/10
Toy story is one of the best animated Disney film.Toy story is the story of what toys do when their owners are away. They come alive and have adventures of their own. One of the things I love about this movie is there are multiple co-stars in this film and each has their own unique personality. The interactions of these secondary stars is great and is one of the things that makes this a great film. It is so hard to have so many people on stage and make them all meaningful, but Pixar has done just that. That I think is the greatest strength to this film, the many co-stars that really made it work.In the movie, pull-string cowboy Woody (voiced by Tom Hanks) is Andy’s favourite toy – until Buzz Lightyear arrives. The two have an ongoing feud, but are forced to team up when they find themselves stranded in the real world. Through their attempts to return to Andy’s room they forge a unique friendship.

The Princess Diaries Directed by Garry Marshall, who specializes in fantasies without consequences Cast Julie Andrews, Anne Hathaway, Hector Elizondo, Heather Matarazzo, Mandy Moore, Caroline Goodall, Robert Schwartzman, Terry Wayne isn’t so much a modern-day fairy tale as it is a dramatization of every little girl’s chiffon dream: to be a princess. The Princess Diaries is essentially a re-telling of Marshall’s own Pretty Woman, which, in turn, was just a lame updating of Pygmalion. One day, Mia Thermopolis (Anne Hathaway) is a normal 16 year-old girl living in San Francisco. The next, she learns that she’s the granddaughter of Queen Clarisse Renaldi (Julie Andrews), the ruler of the small (and fictional) European country of Genovia. And, because her late father was Clarisse’s only child, that makes Mia the Crown Princess. So, in preparation for her investment as heir, she has to endure Princess Training 101, with lessons in everything from speech to etiquette, all while continuing to attend school. But word leaks out of her heritage and she becomes an instant celebrity. Suddenly, she’s Miss Popularity and the coolest guy in school (Terry Wayne) wants to hang out with her. But, while caught up in this giddy wave of being the center of attention, she turn her back on her best friend, Lilly (Heather Matarazzo) and the boy who really likes her (Michael Moscovitz) but in the end everything get on the right track.

The sole holdover from the first three KK flicks is Noriyuki Pat Morita, once more cast as janitor/martial arts maven Miyagi Yakuga.Mr Miyagi after training Danielson so long ago, agrees to train a new Karate kid. This time, his pupil is orphaned 17-year-old Hilary Swank, the granddaughter of Miyagi’s war buddy. The only catch is that this one is a girl. After her parents are killed in a car accident she comes to Miyagi for help.Relentlessly bullied by her male classmates and feeling responsible for her parents’ fatal accident, Swank is taught self-worth through the tough-but-gentle guidance of Miyagi. She is having troubles by a boy named Ned and a group named the Alpha elite. The movie features interesting training sequences but is no where near the cinematic excellence acheived in the first Karate Kid Movie.

Title: Stuart Little (1999)
Duration: 84 min | Spain: 81 min (DVD edition)
Cast: Michael J. Fox, Geena Davis, Hugh Laurie, Jonathan Lipnicki
IMDB Rating : 5/10
The Littles (Geena Davis and Hugh Laurie), all-around swell parents, decide to adopt a younger brother for nine-year-old George (Jonathan Lipnicki). At the orphanage, however, they meet and immediately fall in love with the titular computer-generated mouse (voiced, a tad cloyingly, by Michael J. Fox).Being a little guy in a big family can be tough. Being a mouse in the Little family is great, because you have your own room and even if George, the already-there son, doesn’t take you seriously as a new brother, maybe in time, after helping him build his toy boat, you could be buddies. There is one problem, however. Its name is Snowball. You call him Snow to be friendly. It doesn’t work.George is, of course, nonplussed by the whole idea, and Stuart’s assimilation isn’t made easier by family cat Snowbell (Nathan Lane). Humiliated at having Stuart for a master instead of lunch, Snowbell arranges a rodent hit with the help of some local alley cats, including boss Smokey (Chazz Palminteri, in what amounts to a feline reprise of his small-time wiseguy character in A BRONX TALE). Various plot machinations later, Snowbell is redeemed, the bad kitties get their comeuppance, George comes to love his diminutive brother, and the family learns that there’s a little Stuart Little in all of us. All that uplift, of course, is not terribly surprising (though it’s sure to make kids happy), and may strike White purists as just a wee bit sappier than the master intended. Fortunately for most other adults, there’s also plenty to admire.

IMDB Rating : 5/10
Owing to Robert Rodriguez’s infectious goodwill and delirious visual sensibility, Spy Kids 2: The Island of Lost Dreams is the kind of children’s movie that respects a child’s imagination along with parental patience. Packed with invention from its opening theme park to its closing Island of Dr. Moreau, the picture is a three-pepper salsa that, for all its flashing gizmos and stop-motion monsters, suggests that the best gadget is a rubber band, and that the most important quest is one undertaken on behalf of a family member.Juni and his sister Carmen (Alexa Vega) are pint-sized spies in their parents’, Gregorio’s and Ingrid’s (Antonio Banderas and Carla Gugino), spy organization, the OSS. Elevated since the first film from interlopers to ranked agents (Class 2 means you can boss around The President!), Juni and Carmen embark to the Island of Lost Dreams in pursuit of a gizmo that has the potential to shut down the world’s electronic devices. Inhabited by Xanth-like creatures (a horsefly being a horse with a fly’s head, a spider monkey being a monkey with a spider’s abdomen and legs, and a spork being a flying pig), the island’s beasties are the brainchild of a mad scientist (Steve Buscemi) who doesn’t understand that his creations just want to spend a little time with dad. While not nearly so carefully constructed as the first film, Spy Kids 2: The Island of Lost Dreams made me feel taken care of in the cosily nostalgic way of Saturday afternoon creature-features on local television, where you could count on seeing an old Godzillas or a classic Harryhausens.

IMDB Rating : 5/10
Gregorio and Ingrid are the two greatest secret agents the world has ever known: masters of disguise, mavens of invention, are called back to the ranks following the demise of their erstwhile colleagues at the hands of kids’ puppet-show host and techno wizard Feban Floop (Cumming) and his assorted army. Ingrid and Gregorio disappear and the Cortez children (Vega and Sabara) have to don the jet-packs, slide on the computer specs and save the world. One-time rebel director Robert (El Mariarchi) Rodriguez treads a neat line, reversing a common (and mistaken) emphasis in kids’ movies. He plays the danger/adventure lightly, and treats the garish design, environments, effects and various gadgets with the gravitas demanded by the young connoisseur. In terms of its family ethos, this makes an interesting comparison with the Addams Family films. Refreshingly, both portray a sexualised parental relationship and view family as a specialised enclave, within which audacity and independence are accepted. The plot deviations are endless and confusing, but children can handle that, no prob
